From the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year to now, a new game has risen above any other mobile game. Everywhere you go at least one person is playing the game Block Blast! 

Like Tetris, Block Blast! combines block and jigsaw puzzle games. The game’s objective is to clear as many lines as possible before running out of space using the various shapes of blocks given to the players. 

Seniors, James (Jimmy) Sheen, Julia Pearl, and junior Donovan Ripari, share their love for the game. 

Sheen exclaims, “I love Block Blast! Me and Block Blast! go way back, you know? My dad was getting surgery and I was bored so I found it on the App Store and I’ve never looked back since. I looked up fun games to play and it came up. It’s my highest app for screen time, about an hour and a half, two hours a day.” 

Many people spend hours upon hours playing Block Blast! Block Blast! is the number one rated free game in the Apple App Store. Ratings for the game are leaving it at 4.9/5 stars. 

Pearl states, “Block Blast! is cool. I just recently downloaded it so I’m trying to get my high score up. It’s 5,600 right now. I first heard about it from my friends and maybe spent an hour a day playing it.” 

In addition, the game also includes various modes and levels, keeping the gameplay fresh and exciting. Regular updates and special events provide new challenges and rewards, ensuring that players have a reason to return. This game is both accessible to beginners and engaging for experienced players who enjoy a strategic challenge. 

Ripari commented, “Block Blast! is so great and interesting; I enjoy it a lot. I found the app through the App Store recommendations. I don’t play it a lot though only when I’m done pursuing my education.”
