With the boys’ basketball season kicking off, students are excited and ready to watch the team. Shorians have games almost every week until February 24 when the season ends at home. With a new roster, they are prepared to take on the season.
This year’s team has a lot of experience with many returning juniors and seniors. Those players include Adam Rach, Brendan Manor, Ja’Sean Dean, Jason Pruitt, Maxysm Miner, Steven Likins, and Luke Lemke. They all have high hopes for the season. The new players to the team are Jack Lemke, Nick Mcparland, Lamine Traore, Donovan Kidd, and Rashad Henry.
Miner, junior, said, “I love the team this year. I feel like we work together, we get along real well, we all know and play our roles great.”
Miner isn’t the only person on the team that thinks this year’s team is special.
Senior Brendan Manor said, “I think the team is better this year with people understanding the game better and getting our main scorer back.”
Lake Shore had lots of issues last year with one of their best scorers Adam Rach tearing his ACL and ending his season early. This ruined how the team played together but they are all back and even more experienced and have a lot of confidence for the coming season.
Dean, senior, said, “I think we got a good chance to win districts but we are taking it in baby steps and are worrying about winning our conference first.”
Manor said, “ We should go deep but winning states will be hard to accomplish but we could do it.”
The Shorians have high expectations of themselves. The Shorians dropped down to the MAC Gold after last season. They’ll have a lot of hard games and tough challenges through the year but the players and coaches believe they can do it.
Miner, said, “We play a tough schedule but I believe we are good enough to go 18-4.”
The Shorians have had a tough past two years struggling with injuries and being young. But with all these returning players and the confidence this team has they should have a successful season.
With the new roster and returning players, the Shorians are ready to attack the season. They have a total of 22 games and are good enough to win over 75% of them with experienced players helping improve younger players.
