Cheer season is upon us

The competitive cheer season at Lake Shore has kicked off with an incredible display of spirit and determination. From intense routines to late competitions, our cheerleaders are committed to giving their all to bring home trophies and make the Shorians proud.
Leasia Johnson, a senior on the varsity team, is thrilled for the new girls joining the squad. She says, “They all seem very determined to work hard and make it to states.” Johnson hopes this year will be better than the last and wants her team to continue striving for the state championships. To prepare for competitions, they get “hyped” by choosing a motivational song to set the mood.
Victoria Deppner is a freshman and this is her first year on the Lake Shore Competitive cheer team. She is optimistic about the season and expects her team to work hard and give their best effort. Deppner explains that they prepare for competitions by going over their routines, practicing the cheers, and supporting one another.
Haleigh Fountain is a senior on varsity she expressed, “Last season went really well and it will be hard to top.” She has faith in her team this year. She also hopes to make it to States. She said, “Her team does a lot of bonding outside of practice and in the locker room.”
It seems the cheer team has great sportsmanship and is extremely ready to compete. Varsity recently participated in their first competition on Friday the 13th, achieving a commendable second-place finish. Meanwhile, Junior Varsity had their first competition on Tuesday the 17th, where they excelled and secured an impressive first-place position. With that, it shows our cheerleaders have great determination, spirit, and commitment, and they are one hundred percent there for their teammates.
