Horticulture is all around us—from picking the juiciest fruits at the grocery store to choosing the perfect flowers for a special occasion. But have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes? Who are the experts shaping these choices, and what’s the journey from seed to your table? If this piques your curiosity, the Horticulture Pankow class is the perfect opportunity for you!
For over 20,000 years, horticulture has played a vital role in human life. Growing fruits and vegetables was essential for survival in the beginning, but over time, it has evolved into a dynamic and diverse industry. Today, the farming and agriculture sectors make up 10% of all jobs in the United States, and the industry continues to grow. The Horticulture Pankow class will equip you with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to thrive in this expanding field.
In this class, you’ll learn everything from greenhouse management to plant identification. You’ll gain practical experience in cultivating plants effectively and maintaining sustainable growing environments. Under the guidance of Ms. Glomski, a passionate and dedicated instructor, you’ll be encouraged to ask questions, explore your potential, and develop the skills necessary to succeed in the horticulture industry.
The class runs for an entire year, and you will attend the Pankow Center every morning. You can either drive yourself or catch the bus by 7 AM. Throughout the year, you’ll complete 17 lessons, and at the end, you’ll take a test to earn a certification in Horticulture. This certificate will be a valuable addition to your job applications, especially if you’re pursuing a career related to plants. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in field trips to places like MSU, plus many more exciting opportunities—no matter your GPA. Horticulture truly has a place for everyone.
