March is the month when all the best collegiate basketball teams go and battle it out for a chance at a championship. Basketball fans saw super close finishes this year for March Madness. This year, we ended up having four number 1 seeds.

At Lake Shore High School, March is a very fun and exciting month for Lake Shore with activities such as teachers’ march madness and more. Shorians have different predictions on who they think will win and their outcomes.

A Junior here at Lake Shore High School, Micah Simpson says, “I think Auburn will win it all because my favorite player I grew up watching plays for them and they have been doing good.”

The Auburn team this year is very exciting to watch. Their team consists of high-IQ basketball and precise passing on offense, which leads to many successful plays.

Junior Namarion Moore stated, “I have Duke winning this year because their team consists of the number one draft pick for the 2025 NBA draft.” Moore also stated, “I enjoy watching their basketball because they make it look easy, and I learn a lot from them.”

During the final four games that occurred on Saturday, April 5th, Houston ended up beating Duke to advance to the championship. Duke was ahead for the entire game until the final 30 seconds, but Houston ended up stopping them and getting the game-winning three at the end to seal the game.

The Championship game was a thriller to watch. Both teams were going back and forth throughout most of the game. It looked like Houston was going to win, but at the 3rd minute mark, Florida picked up the pace and came back in the final seconds with a final score of 65-63.

Overall, March is always a crazy experience with college basketball. The excitement of the games, and the unpredictable upsets makes it a thrill to watch.
