The seniors from Lake Shore High School share their feelings about the first ever meet at the 50.
Meet at the fifty was an event where the seniors and kindergarten students of the Lake Shore district lined up at the football field on each side of the field and met at the 50 yard line. Once meeting, the seniors gave the kindergarten students handwritten postcards with inspirational messages on them and in return the kindergarten students gave the seniors bracelets to show their appreciation.
Senior Lilly Benson expresses that she felt that the event was really cute. When posed the question of if it should be a tradition Benson says, “ I think it should because it was really fun and really symbolic.” Benson shares that one of favorite moments were the bracelets that she received from the kindergarten students. Benson also states,”I also really enjoyed reading the cards to them.”
Senior Kayla Patterson shares her views on the meet at the fifty saying,”I thought it was nice.”
When posed with the question of if it should be a tradition Patterson says, “I think it should be a tradition because it’s a good way to show the beginning at the end of someone’s academic journey.” The meet at the fifty event was a very special moment for Kayla Patterson specifically due to the fact that her brother was in the kindergarten class, which Patterson says was her favorite memory of the day.
Senior Dailyn Angeles shares that he thought the event was really impactful and representative. When posed with the question of if it should be a Lake Shore tradition Angeles replied,” I think it should be a Lake Shore tradition because it felt very impactful and when meeting them at the 50, you could really see how some of them looked up to us and were like “whoa look it’s the seniors” in a type of way.” Angeles also expresses his favorite moment from the event saying, “My favorite part of the event was when we took pictures with some of the kindergarten students and knowing that we’d be part of the memories of Lake Shore.”
Whether you’re a senior, kindergarten student, parent, or teacher we can all agree that the Meet at the fifty event has made a beautiful impact and has represented the past and future scholars of the Lake Shore district exceptionally well and the memories will forever be in our minds.
