Here at Lake Shore High School, there are a few new faces monitoring the halls.
The newest hall monitor that has started working here is Cindy Tutor. Tutor was ready for a change from her previous job in the district. “I was ready for a change from working [in an] elementary school,” said Tutor.
There are definitely some differences between working in the elementary school and here at the high school. Tutor said, “The most difficult part is not knowing students’ schedules.”
An interesting fact about Tutor is that she has a pet dog whom she loves. “She is a four year old great dane mastiff, she’s my baby girl,” Tutor said.
Todd Marshall has been a hall monitor here since the beginning of this school year. “I like, instead of just saying ‘get to class,’ I like trying to relate to the kids and make a difference somehow in their life as opposed to just saying ‘get to class,’” said Marshall.
Marshall has been to many places around the country. “I’ve been to San Diego, I’ve been to New York, I’ve been to Boston, I’ve been to Arizona like 10 times ‘cause my brother lives out there. So Australia would be [a] place that would be really expensive, but… long flight, but I think it would be cool,” Marshall said.
Marshall’s advice to the senior class is to find a major and go to college. “Go to school, whether it’s Macomb, Michigan State, or Oakland University, or Oakland Community College. Go to school, find a major, and find a job while you do that, and that’s what I’d recommend,” said Marshall.
Susan Hoover has been working here at Lake Shore for a few years. “Well, back when I started with food, actually, it was my sisters that told me about the position, so I decided to get in with the school district.”
Hoover previously enjoyed working on a military base “in a OGBYN clinic and an ortho clinic.”
All our hall monitors here work hard to keep us safe, so the next time you see one of these newer friendly faces, take some time to get to know them. You’ll be glad that you did.
