A Shorian at Heart is someone who’s active in their school’s community, is in multiple after school activities, and who is motivated to take time out of their day to stay after school.
That’s exactly what Jimmy Sheen is.
Sheen is in many activities, including media productions, stage crew, show choir and being in the Lake Shore high school musicals.
“I’ve been in media productions for 2 years, we’re basically just making videos for competitions, districts or announcements,” Sheen says.
A Shorian to Sheen is someone who is committed to being the best that they can be. They want to be involved in their life. A shorian is someone who wants to excel in what they do and want to improve their skills and be a good pillar of their community.
Everyone knows Sheen as someone who likes to contribute to the community as much as he can. He takes the time out of his day to help out Lake Shore in after school activities, such as recording footage for events happening, staying for musical rehearsals, and many more things. People see him as a Shorian at Heart from all the things he’s done to help everyone in the building as much as he can.
The activities Sheen does after school motivates him because he enjoys doing. Sheen may be busy from seven in the morning to nine at night, he’s able to manage his schedule pretty well. He really likes the classes he has in school right now, he likes everything he does after school and he really likes his job.
“I know for a fact that if I didn’t like what I was doing, I wouldn’t be able to do it…Being able to fill my schedule with all of that, it might seem overwhelming for some, but I have the motivation to carry on because I’m excited for everything that’s in my schedule,” Sheen says.
“I think just watching myself grow as an individual during my entire time at Lake Shore, has been really fun to see and look back on. Both from an academic standpoint and just a normal creative standpoint. I really entered high school thinking I’m just gonna get through and be done with it…Then I found media productions, and I went from 0 to state title. I found show choir, which I love. I’m apart of stage crew and I know everything there is to know about theatre tech. I think just watching myself grow and expand my knowledge, and be excited about it, has been really fun to see.”
Sheen believes a Shorian is someone who is really committed to being the best version of themselves, wanting to be involved in their community. Someone who consistently excels in their academics, and who are still improving their current skills, which he’s been doing his entire time at Lake Shore High School.
Sheen may just be a high school student with many creative skills, but he’s a Shorian at Heart.
