Tucked away on Greater Mack Avenue in Saint Clair Shores, Michigan, Bommarito’s Bakery has been a cherished family-owned establishment since 1925. The bakery continues to delight patrons with its authentic Italian offerings, including freshly baked bread, cannolis, and a selection of over a thousand wines housed in an underground cellar.
Despite its rich history and loyal local following, Bommarito’s Bakery remains a hidden gem that deserves wider recognition. Visitors often praise the bakery’s Spicy Terrasini Pizza for its perfectly bubbly crust, flavorful toppings, and the generous and flavorful subs surpassing more expensive options elsewhere.
We decided to try out Bommarito’s. It came with some cannolis, Italian subs, and an amazing pepperoni pizza. The subs were amazing. With its in-house Italian dressing and freshly baked bread, they weren’t like your average subway sandwich; they were real, authentic.
If you’re a fan of pizza, I would 100% recommend their pepperoni pizza with spicy pepperonis. They use real cheese and real dough, all made right there. We were able to get a look in the back and see how everything was made, from the dough to the sauce to the pizza in the oven, cooked at just the right temperature.
I’d say out of everything we tried, the desserts were the best. We had cannolis, and they were delicious. A true Italian classic, something you cannot beat.
The inside of Bommarito’s was clean and friendly, it had an old bakery vibe to it. The people at the front were nice and helped us right away. The thing I loved most about it was the quality of food. It isn’t your cheap store-bought ingredients thrown together. Most of everything is made in-house, making it bang for your buck.
Overall, Bommarito’s in Saint Clair Shores is a must-try spot if you want anything from donuts to pizza. Food is amazing, people are amazing and overall you will enjoy your experience.
