Winter break gave Shorian students a break from school while allowing them time to relax and focus on personal goals. After returning, some seniors shared how they spent their time off and what they hope to achieve in the new year.
Senior and your Shorians wide receiver, Sontino Dukes, expressed how he got the widely known Ray Ban Meta glasses. “I’m wearing these every chance I get,” he said.
Dukes also added that he went to a mall he had never been to before, and even gave us a New Years resolution of his. “I want to make a lot of money this year; plan on it actually.”
Amber Keary, senior, expressed how her favorite part of winter break was not having to worry about school. Keary said, before the quote, “Being free from homework and class made the break feel refreshing and stress-free.” During most of her break, she chose to stay home and relax instead of traveling. She enjoys the comfort of a familiar environment. Looking back, Keary reflected that if she could do one thing differently, she would work more, showing a desire to improve.
Fellow senior Ejikeme Onwuemelie, also known as E.J., spoke to us on his as well. “My favorite part of break was getting in the gym. Onwuemelie said his resolution for the year was to hopefully get into a happy relationship. Onwuemelie plays for our Shorians basketball team, so developed his skills as well over break. “The most fun thing I did was working out, getting my shot better.” Hopefully, it translates and helps our boys’ basketball get even better!
Breaks are important for students, as they get a breather from school and all its work. Overall, winter break gave Shorian students a much-needed opportunity to relax, recharge, and focus on personal goals.
