While school activities, both in and out of the classroom, are important and enjoyable, extracurricular activities often provide even more excitement. A notable example is a group of students who formed a band called Morbid Massacre, which has gained popularity around Lake Shore. Their names are Donovan Ripari, Jameson Adams, Michael Dewaele, Aidan Streeter. They are known for their heavy metal music.
Morbid Massacre doesn’t just play music; they tell stories. Their upcoming album’s concept: An action-packed story of a giant, Godzilla-sized cat destroying a city. As we dive into the songs, we see the different perspectives of the feline’s victims.
The drummer, Michael Dewaele, said, “My favorite song in the album is called ‘Fuming Feline’ because it’s been around for a really long time, and it was one of my favorites to play.”
Besides tuning in online, they perform shows frequently. Highlighting the energy and energetic style of music, they give their audience more than just music.
Donovan Ripari said, “’Moral Mother’ got changed, like a million times. The idea was always centered around my biological mother, but the way that song was structured went from being written in a completely different tuning to jumping down and jumping back up, to drums being completely different, and the bass track.”
After recording and polishing their first album, they are ready for their big debut! The performance will take place on December 21, a Sunday night, and will be followed by the Monday release of the album, titled Fuming Feline.
The band members said, “There’s going to be a lot of movement, and there’s going to be a high-energy connection. A lot of just feeling in the room.”
As this is their debut album, the band is ready for the future and has many plans in the works. They intend to release several singles while also considering the production of a follow-up album. But before that, make sure to tune in and come enjoy the show at Parts and Labor on December 21, followed by the release on the 22.
