May is the first major movie month of the year, and we’ve got lots of great movies to look forward to. So if you’re planning on going to the movies this month, here are some you’re not gonna wanna miss.
But first, let’s start with the movies that have already come out this month. The following movies were released on May 1: the long-awaited sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, The Devil Wears Prada 2, a new disaster movie set in shark-infested waters, Deep Water, and a new horror movie by Damian McCarthy, who also directed Oddity back in 2024, Hokum.
Beginning May 8, we got the following movies: a comedy/mystery movie starring Hugh Jackman called The Sheep Detectives and the sequel to the Mortal Kombat reboot from 2021, Mortal Kombat II, both based on the video game of the same name.
Now let’s look forward to the rest of the month. On May 15, we’ll have three more movies: a southern gothic-esque thriller, Is God Is, a new modern horror movie, Obsession, and a new Guy Ritchie film called In The Grey.
May 22 is packed, giving us five more movies: I Love Boosters, a fashionable crime comedy, a chilling new horror movie called Passenger, the newest Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, Saccharine, a food-based horror movie, and a new horror/comedy called Corporate Retreat.
Finally opening on May 29, we have three more movies: a new comedy film written by comedian Nate Bargatze called The Breadwinner. Backrooms, a long-awaited adaptation of a famous internet horror series, and finally, a war movie about the 72 hours before D-Day, Pressure.
If you’re a fan of comedy or horror, you’re eating good this month. So have fun at the movies, and who knows, you might find a new favorite. The end.
