With Michigan opening up the wallet, they have acquired 5 star, #1 player in the nation, Bryce Underwood. Transferring from LSU to Michigan, they have come to the conclusion of paying him 10.5 million dollars in total .This move brought in a mass of players transferring to Michigan’s football team.
Aidan Bennet, Senior, said, “ I do believe that it is okay to bring out the wallet because, you know, it’s not like we’re the only school doing it, you know, NIL deals have become a lot more common, you know, using big money to get big players.”
Bennet believes Michigan is at right for pulling out the wallet. Using the big bucks gets you big players, as Michigan is not the only school doing it.
Bennet,“The wallet potentially will start to follow if other schools do this? Oh, I do. I mean, you know, I mean, it easily flipped the number one recruit in the nation, so, you know, I mean, I think other schools are gonna look into that and see, oh, wow, I mean, just like that, you know”.
Bennet believes schools will follow in the footsteps of Michigan, trying to go for big time recruits with the appealing million dollar mark.
Aidan Bennet, “You know, I’m like I’m 50, 50 on it, you know, cause it’s good, but it’s also bad it’s kind of ruining college football, you know, I mean, these are, 18 to 20, 21 year olds, you know. It’s just putting money into it, like 10.5 million, that’s a lot of money for a young kid to have, but yeah I think it’s right for them to pay, it’s their name and their game”.
Bennet is very ecstatic about it being right to pay college players, it may be ruining the game involving money, but he thinks players deserve the money as its their name and game the NCAA profits off of.
Brendan Fernhout, Senior, said “Yeah, I don’t know what they’re gonna do with their quarterback, but if they start Bryce and all his transfers coming with him, they still have a good defense. So, they’ll probably be top five.
From the perspective of a Michigan State fan, Fernhout believes that if Michigan starts their new 5-star transfer Bryce Underwood, and all of the other transfers he brings in his footsteps, that Michigan will be a top 5 team in college football next year.
With College Football recruitment in full swing, football fans will continue to see players flip to different schools for money, leaving the question of if players are playing for the love of their school.
