The Detroit Lions have faced adversity throughout their 2024-25 season and have had to battle just to make the playoffs. They have shown true grit and determination against other teams that may be possible contenders, such as the Rams, Seahawks, Vikings, Packers, and Texans.
The Lions started very strong, winning a staple game over the La Rams in overtime 26-20, facing former Lions players like Matthew Stafford, which showed who the better team truly was.
After a tough game against the Rams, they went against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and they had been the team that almost beat them In the divisional round the year before so there had been much talk going Into the game. The Buccaneers came prepared with a top Defense under head coach Todd Bowels having these two teams battling until the end. Jared Goff had struggled on offense and the lack of a passing game led to two interceptions and only having one touchdown and all field goals from then. In the end, the Buccaneers came out on top winning 20-16, having enough stops on defense and executing on offense.
Many thought the Lions may not have bounced back from such a loss, still believing they were just the old them but they then showed grit after each week since then. They began to blow out teams or come back late In the 4th quarter showing how much of a change from losing to beating teams they weren’t supposed to beat.
When the Lions went against the Texans they were trailing 7-23 at the end of the first half and came together as a team and started executing on offense and defense coming back to win 26-23 In a shutout against a young team with star players. This showed how much of a difference beating a team that Is healthy and prepared coming off a weak schedule from losing to a team the Lions know they can beat which had much questioning of the coaches and players. The Lions Stepped up and have been applying their true dominance and making game statements on who they are now.
Halfway through the Lions vs Bills game, the Lions suffered a devastating injury to the player David Montgomery, being down a crucial player others will have to step up.
Students of Lake Shore feel that the Detroit Lions have a solid shot in the playoffs and are enthusiastic about their hopes of making it to the Super Bowl. Many Shorians think they may have problems against other teams in the playoffs, like the Eagles or Chiefs, as they are other top teams to be worried about. Most Shorians believe they will prevail in the playoffs and have success and accomplishments in stats.
Sophomore, Ben Jaynes, states what he truly thinks about the team’s players and his views of the Lions as a whole. Jaynes says, “Jamyr Gibbs will be the Super Bowl MVP, Colliton Davis 4 interceptions, Amik Robertson 36 tackles for losses, Brian Branch 2 forced fumbles 3 interceptions.” He believes that the Lions can succeed In the playoffs and that the players will play their role and benefit the upcoming big games.
Sophomore, Benjamin Chimielewski, had a straight-up answer and a valid reason for why the Lions will persevere and be able to make possibly the Championship or even the Super Bowl. Chimielewski comments and says, “The Lions are a strong team under head coach Campbell and will be able to pull out no matter who they face and get to the Superbowl, Jarred Goff will lead them to win and Kerby Joesph will hold It down on defense.”
He sees the Lions having what they have always been hoping for: the chance to show how they can beat a team In the championship and not have problems with somebody coming back at halftime like the 49ers.
Sophomore, Cameron Mills, gave an honest opinion on how the Lions will do In the biggest games of the playoffs. Mills Mentions, “I think they can win or make it to the championship or the Super Bowl, It’s probably gonna come down to the Chiefs and the Lions.” He thinks that other teams are gonna be a possible problem for them If they do make the championship or the Superbowl and how they may have to be determined to win these games when It comes down to It.
Freshman, Brandon Davis, provided a confident standpoint with no false statements and went In the lion’s favor. Davi stated, “I think they will go to the Superbowl and win.” He has high hopes For the Lions and sees a promising playoff picture for them to receive what they have been waiting for.
The Detroit Lions have fought for everything they have and should have success in the playoffs through everything they have accomplished. Going from barely winning any games to being one of the best teams in the NFC is a huge development and shows how far players and the team have come. They have become an entirely different team on and off the field, and they have not let the news or what others say about their team change their determination for the game. They continue to show grit.
