The Lake Shore High School hockey team is fired up for an exciting season, with players ready to hit the ice and show off their skills. As the team prepares to face new challenges and build on last year’s season, the team and school is excited to see what’s to come. Lake Shore recently beat the Anchor Bay Mariners 8-4, which some people would call their rivalry game.
As the season starts, we decided to speak with a couple of players from the team. Starting with senior William Young, we asked, “What are your aspirations for the season of hockey?” His response is what most people would want: “Uhh, winner of the regional championship.” The team wants to win the Regional Championship because it’s a big achievement that would bring pride to their team and the school. It is a chance to prove their skill and teamwork that they’ve put in during the season. Winning will create great memories, and sometimes even help with college opportunities or sports scholarships.
“If we work as a team, we’ve got enough skill to beat everyone we know, you know, anyone in the area.” Next, we asked, “Well, you already beat Anchor Bay, how did you do that?” Young said, “Tenacity, we got a lot of grit on our team; they couldn’t really handle it, to be honest.”
We spoke with another student on the team, Gavin Snarski, senior. “What are your aspirations for the season of hockey?” Similar to Young, Snarski said, “You know we gotta win regionals because we are hosting them. Then go to the state playoffs in Plymouth. “
As the season takes off, the energy and determination from the players are clear. It’s obvious that this team is ready to work hard, support each other, and make this season one to remember.
