The boy’s basketball season is right around the corner, and excitement is building as tryouts approach on November 12, 13, and 14th. Players are getting ready to compete for spots on the team and prove they have what it takes to help the Shorians to another strong season.
This season brings some big changes after the team lost four seniors last year – Brendan Manor, Steven Likins, Ja’Sean Dean, and Adam Rach. These seniors were the major contributors to the team. Along with that, two other players transferred, leaving open spots for younger and returning players to step up.
The Shorians have a few returnees, including Donovan Kidd, Luke Lemke, Jack Lemke, and Nick McParland. They are ready to roll and looking forward to the upcoming season. Jack Lemke said, “We will need everyone to play their role and come to practice with energy every day with a winning mentality.”
“I think we got some good guys, some important pieces. We can come out, run some good plays, and be good… I think we’re going to improve our defense and stay on our feet and be quick to react and run the plays and the games he’s looking forward to the most are Lakeview because of the animosity we have for them, and it’s gonna be a fun game,” Kidd said.
The Shorians kicked off the season on the road against Utica on Tuesday, December 2, in a non-conference matchup. Be sure to mark your calendars for the Lakeview rivalry games, scheduled for January 20 (away) and February 5 (home). Two matchups that bring plenty of excitement and school spirit.
Blaze Broughton, a senior here at Lake Shore, shared his excitement for this upcoming season, saying he’s “most looking forward to seeing the players shine, all my seniors.”
“I’ve seen they have been putting in work in the offseason, and I think they are ready to shine this year, and I think their defense is going to improve, and I think they are ready for a breakout season and go for a playoff run,” said Broughton
With returning players, new faces, hard work, and motivation, the Shorians are ready to kick off the 2025-2026 season.
