Lake Shore has officially renamed its weight room in honor of alum and legendary NFL coach and player George Allen, celebrating the legacy he left here at Lake Shore and across the nation.
To recognize his accomplishments and roots here at Lake Shore, the school dedicated its brand-new, upgraded weight room as the George Allen Weight Room.
Their renovated weight room has brand new dumbbells, racks, cardio machines, kettlebells, and bands. There are 12 lifting stations for space and great performance. There is also an outdoor turfed training area for outside workouts as well.
When the weight room was built and renovated there was no name for it, which led to the naming of the weight room. Athletic Coordinator Rich Bowers said, “George Allen was renamed after the weight room because of all the things he accomplished here, and his focus on physical training and being such a great leader and [it] was a great fit to name the weight room after him.”
There were no other names that were considered for the renaming. “I don’t think there was anybody in contention to pick, and it’s big for our legacy so picking him was an obvious choice,” said Bowers.
With the upgraded space, the school hopes it becomes a place where athletes push themselves and grow everyday to honor George Allen’s Lake Shore legacy.
