Winter is often viewed as the dullest season for high schoolers, especially with a lack of sports events to attend. However, we can’t overlook our hockey team, the Saint Clair Shores Lakers. With an impressive record of 11-4, they currently hold the ninth position in Division Two, making this a fantastic hockey season for the shores.
Our hockey team has achieved a positive record for the second year in a row. Not only are we maintaining a winning record, but we’ve also beaten our previous best of 12-10 with an impressive 11-4 so far this season.
William Young, senior, said, “I think we’re hot right now, we’re playing solid overall hockey, and the record shows.
With a strong start to the season, they’ve realized the incredible opportunity they’ve created for themselves to go the distance and possibly win a state championship.
Young said, “This year, we know what we have. We finally recognized that a state title could be in the foreseeable future.”
This team continues to get stronger, making each game more challenging and exciting. Every match provides an incredible show for fans as the Lakers aim for a record-breaking season.
Young said, “With a record like that, we get every team’s best game when they play us. And well, we’re shooting for the best record in history; if any of the Lakers teams in history have a shot, this is the best one.”
With only 10 games left in the season, our team is fully committed to giving it all until the last match. Be sure to watch as we shoot to take titles and break records. Their next match is on January 19 against Tri Valley at Mt. Clemens Ice Arena. They need all the support they can get to get to the top, so make sure to be there!
