October 21, 2022, Black Adam was released. Teth Adam, played by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, was given the powers of the gods. After abusing his powers, he was incarcerated. Five thousand years later, he was set free and became challenged by the modern day heroes and society.

A couple of students at Lake Shore that had seen this movie had good things to say about it. Jared Weiss, Junior,  said, “ The Rock’s performance in this movie was legendary. I honestly couldn’t agree more with everyone saying it was really good.”

Cameron Salk, Senior, also had more positive reviews to share, “I genuinely liked it, I loved the supporting actors, like Pierce Brosnan, were amazing.”

Each person had nothing but good things to say even though critics didn’t give it a good rating. When asked if they would recommend this movie to others everyone said “yes.”

Ashton Wilbraham said, “I would recommend this because I’m a big fan of DC. The fights were really cool between the characters and the story. Overall, I thought was very good until the very end.”

This movie was a giant breakthrough for the DC series. Salk stated,“It made me feel good that DC finally had a win after a streak of mediocre movies.”

Once the critic reviews came out, many had refused to watch the movie. It received 40% on Rotten Tomatoes by critics.

According to Variety Magazine, Rolling Stone senior editor and film critic David Fear wrote that “not even the pleasure of watching Johnson enter into a blockbuster template he seemed destined to dominate can make up for how generic, flavorless and incoherent this is.”

Oddly enough 93% of the people that saw it enjoyed the movie. Due to this, it can make it harder for the DC series to get seen more because of potentially biased critics. With time, DC fans believe the series will come through.
