Meghan Creson, sophomore at Lake Shore High School, won a division gold medal for the South Macomb United Figure Skating Team!
Creson, who has been figure skating for almost three years now, added a second competition win to her record.
Creson said, “So far I’ve done four competitions and I’ve won two.”
Even the most experienced and well-trained athletes still experience nerves before a game or competition.
Creson said, “I was nervous and I wasn’t nervous at the same time. I was nervous because I wanted to do good and make my team proud, but I also wasn’t because they’re fun and I get to do it with my friends.”
Creson, who started competing about three years ago, said, “Skating is a very physical sport and from it, you learn so much about the different muscles you never use or even think you have.”
Creson said, “My favorite thing about figure skating is I love being on the ice and just letting go and enjoying what I do.”
Although we don’t offer figure skating through Lake Shore, it is a great activity to do outside of school. It allows you to learn a new skill and meet new people. If you want to get involved in figure skating, there are multiple local organizations that you can get started with.
