Future Teacher At Teens For Tots Preschool

Future+Teacher+At+Teens+For+Tots+Preschool

As an aspiring future preschool teacher, I attend the Early Childhood Class at the Frederick V Pankow Center in the L’anse Creuse School District. Not many people at Lake Shore might know about the Pankow Center or the variety of CTE classes that are offered there. There are so many opportunities to try out different occupations at the center, while still earning credit at Lake Shore. For this reason, I think more students should know about the Pankow Center and the possibilities for gaining future career skills.

The Pankow Center offers classes in Early Childhood Education, Culinary Arts, Patient Care Tech, Criminal Justice, and Auto Tech. Lake Shore offers bussing both there and back in the morning.

Lake Shore students earn credit for their first and second hour at Pankow. This is a great opportunity for Lake Shore Juniors and Seniors to get a sneak peek into the future careers offered at Pankow.

I am in the second year of the Early Childhood Education class and very happy to be able to participate in this preschool teacher program at the Pankow Center.

In the Early Childhood class, the goal is to teach the kids, help them grow, and prepare them for school in the preschool setting. Every week, students in the course get to teach lessons that they planned for the preschoolers. The high school students plan and set up different learning stations around the classroom.

Recently we celebrated fall and Halloween in the preschool class. I provided a learning station that had the preschoolers practice their fine motor skills. I prepared a Halloween-themed pumpkin activity where the kids did a fun little pumpkin activity. They had to “sew” string in and out of holes around a paper plate pumpkin. I even helped the preschools walk around classrooms at the Pankow Center to go trick-or-treating. It was exciting to see their smiling faces as they collected candy.

Working with kids has always been a passion of mine. The opportunity to gain experience teaching kids at the Early Childhood class at Pankow has been amazing. If you’d like to have a career in Childcare or Early Education, you too might want to take this class.

There are so many opportunities at Pankow that a lot of Lake Shore students don’t know about, and this article hopefully will help students learn more about these great opportunities.
